Look, Out in the Fairway: It’s a Segway. It’s a Golf Cart. No, It’s…Both

Ride on Golf Cart Scooter (via Hammacher Schlemmer)

Talk about a good walk spoiled.

In the latest assault on fitness and tradition, we now have the Ride On Golf Cart Scooter, which steers like a Segway, serves like a golf cart and is guaranteed to cut down on the calories you burn.

You’ll have to burn some cash to get it, though. The snazzy toy, sold by catalog giant Hammacher Schlemmer, costs $4,500, but comes with a rich payload for the slothful. It has a handle-mounted throttle, a cup-holder, reverse controls and a rechargeable battery with energy enough to get through 27 holes at up to 11 miles per hour. It’s collapsible, too, so you can stuff it the trunk of a compact car.

True, some golfers have physical restrictions and really do require the aid of transport. As for the rest of you, why not buy a robot to hit your shots so you don’t have to exert yourself at all?

Terrible article, these new riding carts such as golfboard are great in so many ways.  There are courses where it doesnt and wont fit but there are plenty of courses where a new alternative fits perfectly

I don't know what all the negative comments are about. I play with guys that without a cart they wouldn't be able to play, to many physical limitation. With the use of these aides they still can get out enjoy a some time with friends and feel little normal for a four hours. As for myself I rather walk unless I haven't been to a course before so that I will enjoy it more. As for this rig, it appears as if you would have to have some stability to manage this things and most people that really needed a cart couldn't use it. It is interesting, I see little use for it an or demand, but for the person who has it all go for it.

Uh, if you are going to use that thing, why not just rent a golf cart for the round???

Walking is great, but some courses are built for carts, and some people can't walk 18. Why not have one of these?
