Well the 11:15 a.m. tee time suddenly got a little more interesting.

After the dust had settled on his second round 78, Ian Poulter took to Twitter to call Hideki Matsuyama, his Saturday playing partner, an “idiot” because of an action he claimed occurred on the 13th green at Doral on Friday.

UPDATE: Matsuyama apologized to Poulter on Saturday for the incident, according to the Associated Press.

Matsuyama walked down the practice range with an interpreter when he saw Poulter and apologized. Poulter explained why he thought it was wrong and then said to him, ”No words,” meaning the incident was over.

I wouldn't have waited until after the round, I might have decked Matsuyama right there. Burying your club in a green is as unprofessional a thing to do as anything.

great to see Voice doing its job... for the same reason Dyson got DQ because he dared to fix spike crater after previous idiot not fixing it and disrespecting all the players behind...

Matsuyama may be wrong, but it's in bad taste to air it out in public (like Sergio with Tiger).  And Matsuyama was man enough to face Poulter to address it.

Why doesn't Poulter just go to Matsuyama and tell HIM not the world. Coward and brainless but he has always had his mouth ahead of his brain which is usually lodged fairly deep!

Too blast a fellow player on twitter is a d-bag move. Pull him aside on the course (or after at the clubhouse). Looking forward for someone to follow d-bag Poulter around and TMZ his mistakes.

Good job, Poulter.  Now I know what sort of human being you are.

Speaking about other players' behavior on the twitter is OK as a professional golfer?

What you said is that manner is important.

But saying that someone is an adiot on the twitter seems to be an unacceptable behaivior.

"...action he claimed happened on the 13th green."  SO... did it or didn't it? It's not like it would be hard to find out. Do some legwork before you post the article.

Ian Polter is an A#$hole.  He only plays well every 2 years at the Ryder Cup.  In between, nothing!

Matsuyama is an idiot if he did what Poulter said.  Drop some F bombs if it makes you feel better but don't take it out on the course.

Perhaps the PGA should police Twitter. It seems unprofessional for the golfers to have such a platform to say anything they want. Even normal companies police what employees say online as representatives of the company.

Poults is a knob, but I agree fix your divots, holes and craters. I saw Ricky Barnes in Puerto Rico putting on a green that had a large blemish that was in his path and rules official wouldn't let him repair it. He missed his birdie putt, tap the par putt in and snatch the ball out off the hole and stormed off the green w/o fixing it. Proper etiquette would be to repair it. He's no better than the person that left it.

Speak to the man about it Poulter,,,,,gutless to blast him on Twitter yet not speak to him face-to-face. If he had I'm quite sure we wouldn't have heard a word on Twitter. I actually have less respect for Poulter now Matsuyama.

How can we educate amateurs, when professionals do not obey The etiquette. Thank you Ian Polter.

It was bad for matsuyama to slam his putter into the green. The green is one of those places on the course that you gotta respect.

Hat off to Poulter. Wish more had the courage to speak out. If the PGA tour had any guts they would suspend Matsuyama from the tournament.

I like Poulter but this is just a dog act in retaliation to another dog act. Please don't reduce the profile of the pga tour to that of many other mainstream sports codes.

@GolfnPix How about reading the article.  He received an apology for the incident so apparently it happened.

@Enycegolf @Reedster You need to hop on that flight to England as well. You can enjoy the 6 hours of flight while Poults tells you all the reasons he has never won a major - one of which is - he is a sniveling chicken sh$#......
