Not sure why the Duf isn't on this list. That's where I'm placing my money.

Gary Woddland. It's his time.

Luke Donald, Sergio or Phil the Thrill.

Dont bet on Mcilroy; a great golfer in the class of Jack Nicklaus would be divinely inspired by the presence of a beautiful lady in his life to win tournaments after tournaments. No, not this estupido; he blames her instead for his hooks and bananas. Rory, get back to Caroline, or only old maids will cross your path until your dotage years.

More likely to be someone who no one is picking but has played well recently.

Just shows how lost the golf world is without Woods. I'd bet a thousand bucks Mackullroy (or whatever his name is) doesn't even make the cut.

I bet Caroline isn't picking him.......

I root for Phil anyway. Sure, he's been in a slump lately, but then he did pretty good this past weekend. How can you not like him?

You gotta figure Rory, Adam, or Phil. But you never know in these things.

Vegas is telling us it's anybody's tournament.  Rory will be there Sunday.  Watch out for Sergio.  He has the game for Pinehurst.  My pick is Jimmy Walker.  He is long, hits a lot of greens and if putter working look out.

Look for Bubba Watson on Sunday afternoon with a chance to win. Otherwise look for the 2014 trend to continue; another journeyman or "no-name" as the US Open Champion. Phil? Game isn't there anymore. Reed? self appointed top five will not make the cut. Scott? Can't handle the pressure on Sunday, will fade. Rory? Look for one bad hole or stretch to kill his chance to win a second US Open...he has a hard time recovering. Sergio? By his own admission he doesn't have the game to win a major and he won't this time. Rose? Curtis Strange was the last man to successfully defend the title...not gonna happen this time.  Look for a first time US Open winner out of the "field horses."

Rory has a shot like Bubba and a few other top golfers, but Phil better shoot four rounds in the 60s if he wants to add a U.S. Open title to his resume.

only chance rory has if the following happens:

1)  no wind

2)  no rough

3)  super soft and slow greens

4)  nobody expecting it to be easy (1-3 above) on day one, so he jumps out to a lead playing aggressive target golf

5)  he plays consistently all 4 days

6)  pigs fly

7)  hell freezes over

Doesn't mean he can't come good this week as could Phil. Every good player goes through bad times

I like Phil. Even though, of late, he's played terrible. I would like him to win, even though it is far fetched.

So he has already won the US OPEN so how can he be overrated

Rory was punching way above his weight with Caroline and he was intimidated by her. It happens. Who knows, he might play more relaxed now.

@hcaur Can you imagine a back-to-back major for Bubba. I don't think he has the mental stability to win another so soon, but it would be pretty sweet. I like his fearless mentality, even if it gets him in trouble.

@dorado Rory's won 2 majors since the PGA tour started drug testing.  How many has Tiger won since then?

JoeCabot

By whom is he overrated?

dorado

@BenBrady @dorado what does this have to do with tiger?  rory won 2 fluke majors.  congressional was super soft with no rough or wind.  same thing happened at kawiah, rain soaked course with no teeth.

@dorado "won 2 fluke majors" only those who occupy rarefied air in terms of idiocy would ever use those terms...
