Rory McIlroy Hits 436-Yard Drive at Scottish Open [Video]
Rory McIlroy doesn’t have a superhero physique, but he can still generate Hulk-like power with his golf swing.
On Royal Aberdeen’s 436-yard, par-4 13th, McIlroy took driver off the tee — and reached the green! Yes, the hole was playing downwind, but so was Webb Simpson’s PGA Tour leading drive on the seventh hole in the fourth round at Kapalua in January, a puny 397 yards.
You can watch McIlroy’s bomb in all its glory in the video above. The best part is how the camera operator has no idea where McIlroy’s tee shot went and focuses on a spot about 100 yards short of where it eventually landed.
McIlroy made a two-putt birdie on 13 en route to a course-record 64 and the first-round lead at the Scottish Open.
